Sachuest Point Rhode Island, New Years Day 2009.  It was a balmy 12 degrees below zero with the wind chills, but we took a 2.5 mile walk around Sachuest Point Wildlife Refuge anyway.  We saw 26 species of birds and a deer.

We saw Song Sparrow, American Tree Sparrow, Junco, White Throated Sparrow, Catbird, Mockingbird, Black Duck, Harlequin Duck, Northern Pintail, Common Loon, Common Goldeneye, Mallard, Bufflehead, Common Eider, Short eared Owl, Northern Rough legged Hawk, Northern Harrier, Sanderling, Robin, Starling, Fish Crow, Herring Gull, Greater Black Back Gull, Brandt Goose, Red Breasted Merganser and Double Crested Cormorant.
