4/01: Local Woodcock Walk

If you have never seen the mating display of the American Woodcock you are missing out. This will be an easy walk, we will mostly be standing around listening for the peent of the Male Woodcock. When he feels the timing is right he will explode into flight and climb hundreds of feet into the air then fall like a leaf back to the ground while making a funny blooping call trying to attract a female.

You need to wear boots as we will most likely will be standing in a wet field If you have binoculars bring them, we will doing some birding while waiting for it to get dark enough for the Woodcocks to display.

Please meet at the Bird Store by 6:00pm. We will carpool from the store parking lot to a local site yet to be determined.

*Please look out for cancellation emails/calls in case the weather does not cooperate.*
